The turnip may not be the most glamorous food in the world but it is an incredibly versatile root vegetable. Like most other vegetables, turnips are low in calories also. Their leaves taste like mustard whereas the roots have a mild pungent flavour with a hint of bitter sweetness. The leafy green vegetables that come from the tops of turnip bulbs are known as turnip greens. The humble turnip has a variety health benefits and nutritional values that many don’t really know.
