Cancer cells divide, grow and spread throughout the body very fast. If specialist doctors are unable to control the spread of cancer cells, death is the result. Various factors, both internal and external, cause cancer. Internal factors include genetic mutations, hormones, and immune conditions. External factors include smoking, unhealthy diet, and infectious disease. It takes several years before such risk factors lead to cancer.

LUNG CANCER

Lung cancer claims more lives each year than do colon, prostate, ovarian and breast cancers combined. People who smoke have the greatest risk of lung cancer, though lung cancer can also occur in people who have never smoked. The risk of lung cancer increases with the length of time and number of cigarettes you have smoked. If you quit smoking, even after smoking for many years, you can significantly reduce your chances of developing lung cancer!

COLORECTAL CANCER

This cancer presents with few or no symptoms sometimes. Colorectal cancer, also known as bowel cancer, colon cancer, or rectal cancer, is any cancer that affects the colon and the rectum. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, and the third for men. However, due to advances in screening techniques and improvements in treatments, the death rate from colorectal cancer has been falling.

BREAST CANCER

Breast cancer is cancer that forms in the cells of the breasts. Breast cancer can occur in both men and women, but it’s far more common in women. Support for breast cancer awareness and research funding has helped created advances in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Breast cancer survival rates have increased, and the number of deaths with this disease is declining, largely due to earlier detection and a better understanding of the disease.

PANCREATIC CANCER

Pancreatic cancer typically spreads rapidly to nearby organs. It is seldom detected in its early stages. But for people with pancreatic cysts or a family history of pancreatic cancer, some screening steps might help detect a problem early. One sign of pancreatic cancer is diabetes, when it occurs with weight loss, jaundice or pain in the upper abdomen.

PROSTATE CANCER

Prostate cancer is cancer that occurs in the prostate, a small walnut-shaped gland in men that produces the seminal fluid that transports sperm. Usually prostate cancer grows slowly and is initially confined to the prostate gland, where it may not cause serious harm. However, while some types of prostate cancer grow slowly and may need minimal or even no treatment other types can be aggressive and can spread quickly!
